Welcome to my blog! I am Jordan Theoret, a former Communication Specialist with the Canadian Armed Forces, a Cyber Security Analyst graduate from Willis College, and an adventurer at heart. My journey spans from rigorous military service to embracing the challenges and tranquility of off-grid living, all while nurturing a growing expertise in cybersecurity.
In the Field: Military Experience and Global Service
During my 10 years of dedicated service in the Canadian Armed Forces, I had the distinct honor of serving in Iraq in two distinct roles: initially as a member of 3 RCR M-Coy and subsequently with CANSOFCOM. These deployments, integral to Operation Impact, CJTF-OIR, were transformative, deeply instilling in me a sense of duty, resilience, and adaptability. They equipped me with invaluable communication skills and the ability to thrive under pressure – qualities that are integral to my current professional and personal endeavors.
Transition to Civilian Life: Embracing the Off-Grid Lifestyle
Transitioning to civilian life, my partner and I embarked on a unique journey. We sold almost everything we owned and invested in an off-grid tiny home by the La Peche river. Living here, powered by solar energy and connected by Starlink, I find daily inspiration in the simplicity and challenge of this lifestyle. The hard work required to maintain this way of life is immensely rewarding and fuels my creativity and perspective.
Combining Military Precision with Cybersecurity Acumen
After my military career, I pursued a Cyber Security Analyst diploma at Willis College. Here, I deepened my understanding of network security, ethical hacking, and cloud technologies. My military discipline, combined with this specialized education, has given me a unique viewpoint in cybersecurity, where I continually draw upon my diverse experiences for innovative solutions and insights.
A Passion for Fitness and Adventure: Rock Climbing and Cycling
Beyond my professional life, I have a strong passion for fitness and adventure. Rock climbing and cycling are not just hobbies; they are a source of inspiration and rejuvenation. Rock climbing has become the centerpiece of my travels, offering both physical challenge and a unique way to connect with nature and different cultures.
